Super for councillors

Different arrangements apply

Super arrangements for councillors are different to those for other members. Councillors are generally not regarded as employees for taxation and super purposes. As such, a council is usually not obliged to pay super contributions for councillors. However, exceptions apply.

Refer to the Member guide and the Superannuation for councillors info sheet for more information.
