Standard member contributions
If you are a permanent Queensland local government employee, you will automatically start making 6% standard member contributions (and receive a higher employer contribution of 12% of your salary) once you reach 12 months of employment.
If you like, you can start making standard member contributions any time in your first 12 months of employment. Keep in mind though that once you start contributing you are unable to stop until you leave local government employment.
Standard member contributions can be made from your after-tax pay, or if your employer agrees, by salary sacrificing. If you contribute from your after-tax pay and meet other requirements, these contributions qualify for the co-contribution.
